About Rotronic

Founded in 1965, Swiss-based Rotechnik primarily develops and manufactures solutions for measuring and monitoring relative humidity, temperature, carbon dioxide, differential pressure, pressure, flow rate, dew point, and water activity. In 2000, Rotechnik embarked on a digital transformation and, together with Novartis Switzerland, developed the RMS monitoring system, quickly expanding into the pharmaceutical industry and other fields involving automated data transmission (M2M). In 2017, after being acquired by PST Group, Rotechnik joined forces with renowned brands such as Miele, AI, and Entropion, further strengthening its position as a key supplier of measurement solutions.

 

Rotronic Monitoring System (RMS)

The Rotronic monitoring system features a modular hardware design and a web-based software platform, offering exceptional flexibility in system installation and data retrieval. The data logger can connect not only to Rotronic sensors but also to third-party sensors, and it can upload data to a secure and reliable database. Users can access the system and retrieve relevant information stored in the database anytime, anywhere, via various devices including PCs, Macs, computers, and smartphones.

| RMS Data Integrity and Security

 

√ 24-hour, round-the-clock monitoring and alerting for each critical system.

√ Connectivity: Four-fiber optic connections from independent carrier main routes enable quick installation between connecting devices.

√ Power Supply: A secure grid power supply is provided by two substations from two different power suppliers. Both power sources supply power to all equipment, and each power source is independently equipped with a main power supply and a backup generator, both capable of operating at full capacity indefinitely.

√ Environment: Temperature and humidity SLA compliant with ASHRAE recommendations, N+1 cooling, secure leak detection and early smoke detection systems, Inergen gas fire suppression system compliant with local regulations, designed to maximize safety and minimize damage.

√ The backup is stored in a second data center, also located in Switzerland but 80 kilometers away from the primary data center.

| Alarm

 

The Rotronic monitoring system’s alarm protocol ensures that critical alarms are never missed and can trigger notifications based on risk levels.

The alarm is divided into four levels and is activated based on the defined risk:

1. Reminder for non-emergency events:

- Low battery (device) 
- Simulator connected (measurement point) 
- Reminder: Calibration due date 
- Missing measured values due to gaps in the downloaded data

2. Measurement Point Exceedance Warning 
3. Over-limit alarm for measured values 
4. Critical Hardware Error:

- Device timeout

- Sensor error (measurement point)
