Step into the Shanghai Hanyao Laboratory—A Look at the 2024 Safety Inspection, Training, and Drills

To further enhance laboratory safety management capabilities and risk prevention levels, strengthen the safety awareness of laboratory personnel, and improve their ability to respond effectively to unexpected situations during experiments, on May 11, 2024... Shanghai Hanyao Laboratory ( Shanghai Xinghan Yao Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd. ) Conduct a one-day event Laboratory Safety Inspections, Training, and Drills

This training session features a special lecture by Qu Wenjun, a lecturer specializing in laboratory safety training. Teacher Qu Wenjun conducted on-site training at the key laboratory, focusing on... “Inspect and explain simultaneously,” “Identify safety hazards and provide corrective measures at the same time.” We also provide one-on-one laboratory safety guidance. During the laboratory safety inspections, we categorize and compile the identified safety hazards, helping laboratory safety managers and safety officers become familiar with the current status and distribution of these hazards in our lab. This enhances the ability of relevant personnel to recognize laboratory safety risks and further aligns their understanding of the criteria for identifying such hazards. As for the aspects where we’ve performed particularly well, Teacher Qu offered positive recognition and praise, providing the lab with an excellent example for learning from.

At the training seminar, Teacher Qu Wenjun first introduced to everyone typical cases of laboratory safety incidents, helping them deeply understand the importance of learning safety knowledge, enhancing safety awareness, and mastering safety skills. Afterwards, through demonstrations and interactive sessions, he showed everyone how to correctly select and properly put on and take off laboratory safety protective equipment.

After the theoretical course concluded, the company conducted a fire drill. Both laboratory and office staff actively participated, familiarizing themselves with safety exits and evacuation routes. Teacher Qu led everyone in learning how to use fire extinguishers and mastering firefighting techniques. Every colleague on-site had the opportunity to practice using different types of fire extinguishers.

To enhance the effectiveness of the training exercise and ensure that every participant can understand clearly, see distinctly, learn effectively, and feel fully engaged, Teacher Qu arranged for laboratory personnel to conduct an emergency drill for chemical spills. While explaining the procedures, he demonstrated them step by step, guiding the participants on how to respond to laboratory accidents, and allowing them to practice putting on and taking off protective gear as well as using the emergency eyewash and shower facilities. This hands-on approach gave the lab staff the opportunity to participate closely and experience the entire process firsthand.

After a day of theoretical and hands-on training, during which participants systematically learned laboratory safety knowledge and practiced emergency drills, everyone gained a thorough understanding of the emergency response procedures for chemical safety incidents, became familiar with the technical requirements for handling laboratory safety incidents, mastered fire-extinguishing skills specific to laboratories, further enhanced their sense of safety responsibility, standardized safe laboratory practices, deepened their comprehension of safety knowledge, improved their on-site emergency response capabilities, and thereby provided strong assurance for the safe and smooth conduct of laboratory work.
